Drown Out The Snoring

Nothing can ruin a good night’s sleep on a regular basis than a spouse who snores. It can be really annoying as the loud snoring can wake up the entire household, promoting partners to sleep in separate bedrooms or even separate for real and for good. It is a nasty habit that has been the cause of many relationship breakups but in as much as how risky it is for your health to have this condition. Despite this sad reality, though, it does not erase the fact that the loud snoring is really annoying.

Even if you cover your head with a pillow, the sound will still pass through. If you love your partner, it will be too hard and painful for you to leave him at night and sleep in another room perhaps because sometimes you need to nudge him to stop snoring for a while. Even if there are a lot of anti-snoring products sold these days, nothing has really been able to cure sleep apnea, the root cause of snoring. Yet you can still live a normal life and get the sleep you deserve with the help of a few handy and innovative sleep solutions.

Do you have a spouse or significant other who snores? If you’re not willing to call it quits on your relationship in the name of a good night’s sleep, you may want to consider shelling out for a pair of futuristic earbuds, developed by a team of ex-Nokia engineers. Like supercharged ear plugs, the QuietOn Sleep earbuds use cutting-edge noise-canceling technology to block out low-frequency sounds.

The earbuds trace back to the early 2010s, when company founder Janne Kyllöne became interested in noise-canceling technology after enduring countless business flights. In 2015, Kyllöne and fellow Nokia engineer Matti Nisula manufactured the first prototypes and had them tested and validated. This lead to a 2016 Indiegogo campaign, which raised $1.3 million. The first-generation earbuds were successfully delivered to backers and, by last year, more than 15,000 units had been shipped to 120 countries around the world. Now the team is back with a follow-up, improving on the original earbuds in a few key ways.

(Via: https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/quieton-sleep-earbuds-gen-2/)

You’ve probably used earbuds for as long as you can remember but did you know that there are high-tech ones that can help drown out your partner’s loud snoring. Since the technology is still somewhat new and not yet that mainstream, expect to shell out a lot of money when buying one. Its noise-canceling technology will surely help you sleep like a baby despite the awfully loud snoring beside you.

Even the company behind it is surprised at how positive the reception was to the QuietOn earbuds. It only goes to show how many people have snoring problems that aren’t yet addressed by science or technology. You just wear the device before sleeping and that’s it. It is so effortless yet effective at the same time.

The new $159 headphones were developed after designers analysed hundreds of snoring audio tapes including sounds of snoring, traffic, and other noises coming through walls.

The results are a set of earbuds with active noise cancellation that uses a microphone to sample the sound, and a speaker to create a phase-shifted sound that cancels the original sound.

Research shows that snoring impacts 25 percent of people on a regular basis and over 50 percent on an occasional basis.

These noise cancelling buds not only reduce snoring problems but also eliminate other irritating sounds such as traffic noise.

The buds are made with a soft foam cushion, and with a simple tap the modes can be altered from ‘sleeping’ to ‘hearing’, they are also excellent for listening to music.

(Via: https://www.channelnews.com.au/snore-cancelling-ear-buds-tipped-for-ifa-2018-launch/)

Not only snorers can benefit from a noise-canceling device because it also comes in handy to block different types of noise pollution like traffic among many others. The one made especially for snorers is effective in blocking the snoring noise and can also be used in listening to music. With its long battery life, you can easily sleep through the night without the device dying and leaving you vulnerable again to loud noises in your surroundings.

They may seem too much for some people but if you are the one sleeping with a loud snorer every night, it can drive you nuts too. At least now, those who don’t snore no longer lose sleep along with their snoring partner. For the snoring person, there are also options to ensure you don’t suffer that much from sleep apnea. With anti-snoring gadgets like the Good Morning Snore Solution and the SleepTight Snoring Mouthpiece, there is no more snore that needs drowning and you and your partner can both sleep peacefully all night long.

Recognizing The Dangers Of Snoring

Humans have peculiarities that may seem funny at first but are actually threatening to one’s health. A fine example is snoring. People often snicker at the sound of another person’s snoring because they have associated it as an embarrassing and annoying sleeping habit some old people have when in reality, it actually is a dangerous health condition that can even put your life in grave danger in your slumber.

Snoring isn’t just a habit but is actually the sound people make when air can’t freely pass a constricted airway and cause this hallmark symptom. In layman’s term, a person who snores (and often is diagnosed with sleep apnea) suffers from periodical breathing gaps all throughout their sleep. It is an involuntary response that is often triggered by a physical anomaly in body parts involved in the essential act of breathing.

So, every time a person snores, he/she is actually having a hard time breathing and the brain has to make the risky choice between breathing and sleeping. Imagine being in this delicate state every day, like every time you sleep there is always the risk of not being able to wake up.

The Sleep Lab has four fully equipped hotel-grade rooms for overnight sleep studies. Pulmonary or sleep medicine fellows study real-time data in a separate room under the supervision of a consultant sleep specialist.

Snoring and OSA can lead to serious health risks such as heart failure, heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke, neurocognitive impairment and accidents due to sleepiness. OSA causes breathing to repeatedly stop and start during sleep.

Be worried when the snoring is punctuated by periods of silence, followed by a snort, a loud gasp or a body jerk.

(Via: http://lifestyle.inquirer.net/295043/worried-snoring-punctuated-silence-body-jerk/)

If you are a habitual snorer, don’t put off any longer a trip to see the sleep specialist. While not all snorers have sleep apnea, snoring remains to be a major symptom of patients diagnosed with sleep apnea. There is always the possibility of you actually suffering from some type of sleep apnea. So, better get yourself checked and interventions can be initiated.

They may recommend a sleep test, wherein you’ll be required to stay for the night to be observed in your slumber. You’ll be strapped to devices that will give the doctor a better idea how your body works when you are asleep.

If a person does have sleep apnea, a more aggressive treatment may be necessary.

For some people, a dental oral appliance — a device that looks like a mouthguard — can propel the lower jaw forward and open up the airway sufficiently. But some patients experience jaw or bite alignment issues with these devices, according to Lee.

The primary treatment for severe cases relies on a continuous positive airway pressure or CPAP machine: a device that forces air pressure through a mask into a person's airway. It provides enough air pressure to keep the airway open throughout the night.

Not every patient needs a device like the CPAP at the start, according to Lee. But she cautions that sleep apnea is a progressive disease that tends to get more serious as people get older. As we age, "everything tends to sag a bit more," she explained, and that's true inside your airway, too. A patient who can use milder treatments for a while might still eventually need a CPAP.

(Via: http://uk.businessinsider.com/how-to-stop-snoring-2018-5)

As soon as a diagnosis is made, you can explore various options on how to address this condition. There are conventional management methods like CPAP and surgery but both have their risks. However, CPAP remains to be the best intervention for sleep apnea even if its compliance rate is low. It is because CPAP isn’t exactly comfy and surgery is obviously invasive. Most people right now prefer the use of anti-snoring gadgets because it is more affordable and convenient to use and also effective in reducing snoring without all the discomforts associated with CPAP use.

At a time and age when modern science almost has an answer to everything, there is no reason for you to continue suffering in silence or being deprived of sleep. Most anti-snoring gadgets offer a free trial like ZQuiet while SnoreRx offers a 30-day money back guarantee, so give it a try while you are still exploring your other options.

Can Anti-Snoring Gadgets Save You?

If there is one thing that you used to take for granted before but want so badly now, it is probably sleeping. Young ones are often told to take naps by their parents but they detest it so much because of their hyperactive hormones and naturally inquisitive nature yet as you grow up and grow old, you realize that sleep is one of those things that can help you go on with life despite the challenges that come your way.

Unfortunately, getting that eight hours of sleep is easier said than done. Not only is your growing list of obligations stopping you from snoozing when needed but conditions like sleep apnea is a major factor too for your chronic sleep deprivation. Not only that, sleep apnea in itself is a deadly condition that can endanger your life in your slumber as you basically stop breathing multiple times while you are asleep.

For years, the public just ignored the dangers of sleep apnea, thinking that it is just one of those things you have to learn to live with. However, recent studies reveal just how dangerous this condition is and both young and old alike are at risk especially that congenital anomalies can increase your risk of snoring.

Night after night of disturbed sleep because of loud snoring is extremely trying on your health and your relationship. If you're the snorer, the none-too-gentle kicks from the other side of the bed aren't great either. The good news is that there are solutions to the problem – and they're cheaper than divorce!

Relationships are affected by sleep apnea primarily from the loud snoring that is so characteristic of it. Couples go to extreme lengths as sleeping in separate bedrooms, if not separating for real, because the other spouse can no longer tolerate the loud snoring.

Talk to your doctor

Start with talking to your doctor. They can do a physical examination and make sure there's nothing more serious going on. Many regular snorers, especially heavy snorers, also have sleep apnoea. Sleep apnoea can cause high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack and stroke. Poor sleep due to sleep apnoea can lead to daytime drowsiness, which impairs job performance and increases the risk of accidents.

Your GP may refer you to a specialist sleep physician, or perhaps an otolaryngologist or ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeon.

(Via: https://www.choice.com.au/health-and-body/conditions/trouble-sleeping/articles/anti-snoring-products)

Medical experts often advocate for lifestyle changes in order to reduce snoring. There are also other alternatives in the form of anti-snoring mouthpieces like the Good Morning Snore Solution that has been saving people from sleepless nights, and most importantly, reduced their snoring for the benefit of their health. Your doctor can help you decide which the best choice for you is but you can also decide based on what you prefer.

It is why you must know what your options are. You don’t have to undergo surgery right away if an anti-snoring gadget like SnoreRx, for instance, is enough to improve your sleep and make your life a little bearable.

A lack of quality snoozing can really throw your life off, and unfortunately a bad night’s sleep is the nighttime epidemic of our modern age. The good news is there are plenty of products out there that can make catching some shut-eye easier. Read on for three worth working into your sleep routine that are all 40% off or more.

  1. The Anti-Snoring Jaw Strap: 2-Pack: Whether you’re waking yourself or your partner up in the middle of the night, this strap (which, yes, does look like a face headband) can help. Just slip it comfortably over the crown of your head and chin, and consider your relationship—and your beauty rest—saved. (Bonus: It also helps prevent sleep apnea, bruxism, and TMJ pain.)

(Via: https://www.thedailybeast.com/these-3-products-will-help-you-get-a-better-nights-sleep)

Not all the time, anti-snoring gadgets come in the form of mouthpieces. At times, it can be a chin strap, blanket, bet sheets, or pillows. They all affect the quality of your sleep one way or the other and it is worth exploring other alternatives that can help you overcome snoring and hopefully help address your sleep apnea too. While these anti-snoring gadgets do not necessarily work against sleep apnea, they are a good addition to your sleep apnea/ snoring management. While you are exploring actual management for your sleep condition, you no longer have to suffer from the awfully loud snoring nor your sleep partner too.

In a way, these anti-snoring gadgets can save your sanity and those around you while you work out your options with your doctor. And with the modern advancements in science and technology right now, many are hoping that a real cure will finally be made available in the market.

Gadgets To Help You Sleep Better

Most of us are guilty of doing this: sacrificing sleep in order to pursue many of the things we want in life. Sleep can be the first on our list of what we can afford to lose because we have an unending and insatiable desire to do more each day. Back then, sleep wasn’t a big of an issue as we don’t have anything sensible to do once nighttime falls. However, it is an entirely different story today. Day or night, you won’t run out of things to do and the list will likely just get longer as the years go by. But has it ever occurred to you that you can use technology to your advantage? After all, “if you can’t beat them, join them” can’t be any truer. When used right, technology can help you get back on lost sleep and not the other way around. This site can help with that.

There are newer advancements today that are geared toward promoting sleep health. These innovative sleep technologies are designed to help you sleep like a baby once more and not pose as distractions like what most technologies we are more familiar with nowadays. If you really do have sleep issues, you better start doing your research on the available products on the market that screams high-tech from a distance but are actually life-savers, or rather, sleep-savers.

Sleep, scent, and sound all do affect sleep, and such a device isn’t harmful, but it’s hardly on the cutting edge of sleep science, either. “It sounds like they are throwing everything at a person hoping that at least one thing sticks,” writes Zeitzer. “Some people might be helped by the white noise at night, some by the scents, some by the simulated sun. Sometimes this goulash approach works, other times one or more of the interventions will be bothersome.”

Ultimately, companies’ ideas for improving sleep are moving faster than the research. Few of these gadgets are likely to transform your sleeping habits, but they’re unlikely to be harmful to anything except your wallet. Perhaps, the best way to sleep at night is to ditch the tech, try to take the boring sleep hygiene tips, and rest assured that you didn’t waste your money.

(Via: https://www.theverge.com/ces/2018/1/11/16860588/sleep-health-tracking-devices-data-ces-2018)

You can only go for so long without sleep. Your body will eventually demand it. If you keep on fighting your body and pushing your body to the limit, chronic sleep deprivation can open the doors to several other health conditions that you may develop because of your constant sleepless state. So, spare yourself from the hassle and discomfort of getting sick because of your carelessness and start living a healthy life by adopting healthy snoozing habits. And once you do decide on taking this plunge, you won’t have to worry about running out of inspiration or ideas. The market is now littered with these cool apps and devices that promise you pure sleeping bliss once you give it a try. It can be a seemingly ordinary mattress or pillow or a pricey gadget or app that does more than just give your lost sleep back.

The leading conventional treatment for OSA is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). The treatment is effective yet requires users to wear a face mask connected via a hose to a large bedside pump unit, which is often uncomfortable, disruptive, and can restrict users’ movement during sleep.

Sommetrics’ aerSleep applies negative external air pressure to the outside of the neck by means of a soft collar, to gently move the tissue and tongue forward and prevent airway collapse. This approach avoids the need for a face-worn mask, helping to improve user comfort.

(Via: https://www.businessweekly.co.uk/news/biomedtech/california-wakes-cambridge-sleep-aid-technology)

It is comforting to know that technology isn’t that bad after all. It really depends on how you design and use it. It may even come in handy not just in promoting sleep but in managing existing health disorders such as sleep apnea. We all know sleep apnea can be so troublesome aside from being deadly. Now, imagine using the CPAP machine each night. The picture isn’t that enticing and surely many others share the same sentiments as to why they shy away from using the iconic CPAP machine.

The Sommetrics’ aerSleep may be what you’re looking for as it is considered an excellent choice against CPAP in the management of obstructive sleep apnea. It is more tolerable than CPAP because it ditched the need for the bedside pump as it is already incorporated into the device itself. It may look like a simple neck brace but it provides the same benefits as CPAP without most of its cons, proving to everyone once more of the many great things we can achieve if technology is used the right way. While you're still deliberating what device to buy, you can always count on convenient anti-snoring mouthpieces like https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/good-morning-snore-solution or https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/sleeptight to save your nights so you can sleep fitfully without having to worry about being too much of a nuisance to others with your snoring or that you may no longer see the light of day come tomorrow when worst comes to worst.

Sleep Apnea: A Silent Killer

It is not uncommon for people to die in their sleep. As horrible as it sounds, it may seem a welcome reprieve for some rather than to die a tragic death from a terrible accident or suffer long from a debilitating and painful medical condition. Of course, dying in your sleep seems like rather smooth and easy but if you still want more in life, the last thing you want to happen to you is to no longer wake up the next day. People slip off of life in their slumber for several reasons. Some suffer from a fatal heart attack or a stroke while for some, it can be a sleeping disorder. Sleep apnea is a common condition affecting millions of Americans today. It is no longer a funny case of how we view it decades ago when we joke around our snoring sleeping uncles.

Sleep apnea can kill you and it is not just from the loud and annoying snoring sound patients with sleep apnea make but more so because of the deadly breathing gaps while they are asleep. When you have sleep apnea, your brain essentially has to constantly decide whether to breathe or sleep during your slumber. It is such a scary thought that you are basically in a 50/50 situation while sleeping; there are those multiple breathing gaps you make each night. Aside from that, the very nature of the condition consequently deprives the brain and other vital organs like the heart of oxygen, so it predisposes you to deadly conditions like stroke or a heart attack, the perfect recipe for death in your sleep.

“Sleep apnea and snoring are processes that starve the brain and the heart of oxygen. As a result, they are the number one cause for heart attack and stroke. In addition, they can lead to heart arrthymias, fatigue, depression, sinus problems and problems functioning at school and at work.”

Josephson adds that sleep apnea can also wreak havoc with romantic relationships and is a leading medical cause of separation and divorce.

“Partners are forced to sleep in separate bedrooms because of the snoring and many become frightened when their spouse stops breathing,” he explains. “While sleep apnea is more common in older folks, it affects between 25 to 40 percent of the population including children.”

(Via: https://www.newsmax.com/health/health-news/apnea-sleep-disorder-breathing/2017/12/13/id/831552/)

Snoring is often the main symptom of sleep apnea aside from seeing sleeping people first-hand that isn’t breathing or gasping for their breath although not all snorers have sleep apnea. It is why you should always get yourself checked for any symptom you may have as what you are thinking it may be isn’t always true. Only proper assessment by a medical professional or a specialist doctor can pinpoint the exact problem and offer helpful solutions to manage your disease or condition. And there’s no reason to fret either as surgery isn’t always advised if it can be helped by other medical interventions.

Snoring can be caused by allergies, obesity, genetics, and even muscle-relaxing medications. But it can also be a symptom of sleep apnea, a condition where people stop breathing for short periods of time while sleeping. As if that isn’t concerning enough, the American Heart Association cautions that sleep apnea is associated with hypertension, stroke, and heart failure—and studies around the country can confirm.

University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers found that over the course of an 18-year study, people with severe, untreated sleep apnea had triple the death rate of those without apnea. For participants who had 30 or more breathing pauses per hour asleep, their risk of cardiovascular death was five times greater compared to those who had fewer than five pauses. In a different study from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, people with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (the most common form of the condition) were four times more likely to die and three times more likely to die from cancer. They also more than doubled their risk of developing cancer and were nearly four times more likely to have a stroke.

(Via: https://www.rd.com/health/conditions/sleep-apnea-snoring/)

It does not always have to be instant death, though. Again, the constant oxygen deprivation can mess with your health and trigger major organs to falter over time. Yet since we are already living in modern times, you don’t necessarily have to suffer from sleep apnea anymore or even worse, die from it. There are all sorts of technology available that can help you get through the night without literally putting one of your feet on the grave. If you suffer from sleep apnea, you can likewise save your partner from sleepless nights so they can finally have their beauty rest and not endanger their help from sleeplessness.

CPAP, although the best method for managing sleep apnea, isn’t always the most comfortable. Here is why CPAP isn’t popular with sleep apnea patients https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/why-a-cpap-machine-is-probably-not-for-you. Don’t fret because you have an excellent alternative. https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/snorerx may be the one you are looking for. It’s easy to use and help correct those anatomical anomalies that put you at risk of sleep apnea in the first place.

Resist Junk Food By Sleeping Longer

Nowadays, getting enough sleep and eating right seems like a big mystery that many of us can’t seem to get right most of the time. It is obvious with the rising numbers of overweight and obese individuals and the numerous sleep clinics catering to hordes of individuals having sleep issues. The distractions are endless and odd sleeping patterns are no longer surprising as the distinction between day and night blurs all the more as the days, months, and years pass by. More often than not, humans compensate for their lack of sleep by eating lots of sleep or drinking caffeine. It gives them a temporary energy boost they badly need to finish their tasks and make it through one more day. It is the reason why many are trapped in this endless cycle that not only affects the quality of their lives but also shorten their lifespan.

The solution to this growing dilemma has been staring us right in the face all along. We don’t really have to look far to be able to get a hold of our health and protect us from life-threatening complications. All we need to do is to sleep. Yes, sleeping longer is the key to living healthily as it allows you to stick to a clean and healthy diet without any fuss at all. It is like hitting two birds with one stone. You don’t need to be a genius to find out the connection between proper sleep and diet. The more shut-eye you get, the more energy you have to do more and explore the world and you won’t have to rely on food a lot especially the processed and sweet ones to keep you going even when you don’t feel like it.

Those of us partial to a lie in woke up to good news this week, as a new study showed that a good night's sleep can help with weight loss.

We're often told to eat less and move more to lose weight, but according to the research by scientists at King's College London, simply spending an extra 90 minutes in bed could also be a solution.

Lack of sleep was already known to be a risk factor for obesity, because it alters levels of hormones which control appetite. The new research discovered that lifestyle factors are also at play. Participants in the study who get more sleep choose healthier foods within a week, eating on average 10 grams less sugar each day. They were less likely to pick sugary treats, or reach for comforting carbohydrates.

(Via: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/body/surprising-health-benefits-staying-bed/)

Of course, while sleep is crucial in the equation, the participants in this study were also told to steer away from caffeine, not to eat a lot before bed, and to try to do something relaxing before hitting the sack. Such pieces of advice are good in itself but when heeded by the participants, they were able to sleep for longer, which is what our body needs just like food, water, and air. Well-rested participants reduced their sweets and carbohydrate consumption unlike the participants belonging to the control group who did not experience any changes to their sleeping pattern. This just goes to show that a simple lifestyle change can trigger a domino effect of positive improvements that can boost your health and well-being.

Adults who increased the amount of sleep they had reported consuming less sugary foods and making better nutritional choices, according to the King's College London (KCL) study.

Researchers said the findings strengthened the link between lack of sleep and a poor quality diet.

The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, sought to increase sleep in 21 adults getting less than the recommended minimum of seven hours every night.

The group undertook a sleep consultation aiming to extend their time in bed by 1.5 hours.

(Via: https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/health/902337/Sleep-health-benefits-healthy-diet-Kings-College-London)

Perhaps in our subconscious, we are aware that we can take the big leap on our health if we just get that needed shut-eye each night but I guess old habits die hard. Along with our fondness of stretching our bedtime into the wee hours of the morning, we unknowingly harm our health by making our bodies crave for sweets and other sugary and high caloric food to compensate for our lack of sleep, so we somehow function normally in front of others throughout the day. Fortunately, just sleeping longer can apparently solve this perennial dilemma many are facing these days.

I wish it was also that easy to solve the problem involving sleep apnea, but sadly no. It is a medical condition that warrants a medical solution. CPAP is usually the first thing that comes to mind but many aren’t exactly thrilled at the thought of connecting themselves to that machine in their slumber. If you feel that the CPAP machine is too burdensome for you, you can always try the more convenient options like anti-snoring mouthpieces that may not be as effective as CPAP but still does the job of keeping you safe and alive one night at a time. You can take your pick from https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/good-morning-snore-solution or https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/snorerx. That way, you no longer have to worry about losing sleep and you don’t fall victim to obesity and its long list of health complications like most people do nowadays.

Sleep Apnea Diagnosis – Beatable, But Not Without Risk

There are a lot of things you have no control over in this world: do not include your sleep in this list. Sleep is essential for our health and well-being even if it is often underappreciated. Nothing should ever stop you from getting that well-deserved snooze. However, there are instances that are beyond your power that has a big impact on your sleep. Sleep disorders, for instance, are the bane of some people’s existence but they do not just go away over time. Gone were the days when people just ignored snoring. While snoring may seemingly look harmless (and I am sure it is a small number of the population), most snorers actually do have sleep apnea. That is the problem. Sleep apnea needs to be addressed right away and not just be dismissed as an annoying habit some people have.

I’m sure snoring is embarrassing, but wait until you find out that you literally stop breathing in your sleep when you have this sleep disorder. It is usually a congenital problem, which is why some consider surgery if necessary. But the thing is these breathing pauses do not only happen once, twice, or thrice throughout the night, it happens multiple times, which is where the danger lies. Aside from depriving your body of essential oxygen, it predisposes you to various medical conditions that deteriorate the quality of your life over time. So, do something about it. The first thing on your list is to get yourself checked by a doctor, preferably someone who specializes in sleep health. You may even need to set an appointment in an accredited sleep clinic to get all the needed information from you and that requires you spending the night in that facility.

If you are doing your best to implement good sleep habits and are still having trouble sleeping, you might have a sleeping disorder. One major type of sleeping disorder is sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a disorder that occurs when a person’s breathing is disrupted during sleep, meaning the brain and the body lose oxygen. One form of sleep apnea occurs when soft tissues in the back of the throat collapse. Another form occurs when the brain stops sending signals to the airways. If you have sleep apnea look into getting a CPAP machine. CPAP stands for continuous positive airway pressure. These machines push air into your airways to force them open.

(Via: http://www.tgdaily.com/health/your-best-sleep)

There’s no need to panic yet, especially if you plan on seeing the doctor right away, since sleep apnea is a treatable condition. A surgery is not always warranted except in dire instances where the congenital anomaly is the only thing that can relieve you of sleep apnea. Sometimes, simple lifestyle changes can do wonders for your condition. Healthy practices like exercising, adopting a regular sleep pattern, quitting smoking (for smokers) and avoiding caffeine or heavy meals right before retiring to bed, may help in a way although medical experts still prescribe CPAP as the management of choice as it ensures the airway is always open while you’re deep in slumber and no breathing gaps will put your life at risk.

Oral appliances typically treat OSA by holding a patient’s lower jaw open and slightly forward during sleep, which prevents an obstruction of the airway; it’s a mechanism similar to the jaw-thrust maneuver employed during cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR.

But most prescription oral appliances—of which there are more than 100 and counting with FDA clearance in the United States1—must be custom fitted by a qualified dentist, who ensures the device is efficacious and reasonably comfortable for the specific patient. Finding the correct setting in millimeter increments can be accomplished in three ways, each of which can be used in conjunction with the others:

(Via: http://www.sleepreviewmag.com/2018/01/oral-appliance-titration-psg/)

Aside from sleep doctors, you may also need to see a dentist since they can also help in the management of sleep apnea. Specific oral appliances can help open up the airway, the first hurdle in this condition, especially with obstructive sleep apnea. They need to be fitted by a qualified dentist, even doctors won’t be able to help you with this. This is an excellent choice for individuals who hate having to use the CPAP every time they hit the sack. It is also the inspiration to anti-snoring mouthpieces that are growing in popularity nowadays. Take your pick from https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/good-morning-snore-solution or https://snoringmouthpiecereview.org/snorerx for a more cost-effective yet effective solution to your sleep apnea while you are still waiting for results or deliberating with your doctor the best recourse for your condition.
